“FAILING well…”

Failing Well
-
“In order to reach any success,
-
you must first be willing to fail.”
I recently read a blog from a friend of mine just returning from his 30th anniversary celebration cruise with his wife. They enjoyed a lovely experience at sea and mostly relished every minute of their Disney Cruise.
What stirred me most in reading his recollection of his vacation was that everything went so perfectly. The Disney crew onboard were all attentive to every detail making each moment one he and his wife will treasure forever.
But like all things in life there was a snafu…this trip was no different. On one of the days-at-sea the wayfarers were to take an excursion to Disney’s private Island, but due to engine troubles the ship and the trip was delayed. This inconvenience for the passengers was rectified and each were given $100.00 credits and free use of all the amenities offered on the Private Island. My friend termed his experience as
”Even Disney fails well.”
This addled my mind as I grapple with being a human being every day.
I wonder if I have considered the details of life like:
~making others feel value
~remembering to say thank you
~always mentioning “I Love YOU” to those important to me
~displaying the Love of Christ to the unlovable
I ponder if others observe me as someone who gives her very best and tries her hardest for the sake of others? I desire they invision me as my friends viewed their Disney Cruise experience.
That being when I do fail, and I will, no doubt about it–poses the question: Will I fail them well?
- Will they see my heart as true?
- Will they know that I hold no malicious motive to intentionally cause hurt?
King David had his struggles and defeats during his time on this earth. A murderer and adulterer just to name a few of his shortcomings. But as he pens in the 73 Psalm
Psalm 73:26
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
This reminds me how vital it is to be steadfast and TRUE to my heart.
What is in our hearts reflects as a neon display to those around us.
As Christians our hope is Jesus Christ will shine brightly inside our hearts mirroring His Light to others.
As our flesh will fail and our dreams dwindle we have a greater power supply: GOD’s STRENGTH.
As with any changes in life one will always face UPS and DOWNS, challenges, road blocks, victories and celebrations.
My faith check is a daily exercise. I don’t breathe one moment or forget my Savior who lives in me.
Even with this soul check in place, I do have my “DAYS.” I am far from perfect. I mess up.
All in ALL
I dream that my curriculum vitae, epitaph, and the memories others have of me is that my HEART was in the right place. That even when I fail someone, they know that I failed them well, with no regrets or returns.
I am thankful for each rerun, opportunities to try again, and become better for it.
The Bible speaks loudly to this subject matter. The Apostle Paul reminds us through his letter to the church at Corinth “regular checkups” are mandatory. We have been given a mission. We have been shown a vision. We have been given a GIFT….salvation and eternal life….and God is in us. He is with us.
2 Corinthians 13:5
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”
(The Message) “Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it. I hope the test won’t show that we have failed. But if it comes to that, we’d rather the test showed our failure than yours. We’re rooting for the truth to win out in you. We couldn’t possibly do otherwise.”I want my life to sparkle the customer appreciation and attention to detail of Disney and my heart to shine the LOVE of God.

Will you choose to FAIL WELL in your life?
Limitations will come, do not disqualify them, and never be counterfeit. Celebrate challenge and discover how to ascend from each opportunity for improvement. Become stronger with each conflict and act toward refining and grooming. In every tragedy discover the triumph and the truth, pray hard as things come together step by step. Constantly monitor inside and out from soul to sole in regular checks. Regularly seek out how to be Your utmost for His Highest, how to strive in seeking others for Christ and mostly keeping your heart true. That’s my personal plan and what I ask the Lord to Guide me to.So that when failure occurs, I will always FAIL WELL.
“Victory attained by failure is tantamount to success grounded in faith”
Praying for you! ~Lisa
This is a valuable lesson I am learning from my art class. It is said that we can learn the MOST out of our failure paintings, moreso than the successful ones ! I’m trying to gleen the positives from my mistakes, & with practice, practice, practice, striving to become a better artist. We learn to constantly monitor our colors & shades & intent to editorialize what we want the viewer to see. Eventually, the “failures” turn into successes in future paintings…….
then it can be said “I failed well” …..if I don’t give up ! It all comes together for a beautiful work of art. In that light, God will work His “Masterpiece” in each of us….over time, a beautiful work of art !
Amen Sister!!
Never give UP!
Thank you so much for stopping by and adding your valuable words of wisdom here!
You have offered a great way to think about “FAILNG WELL”….
Love & Peace, Lisa
Oh wow! You DO know that you came by my blog tonight specifically so I could get here to read THIS? God spoke a word tonight to me through these words.
I have been in the process of writing a book for several years now. Yes. Several years. I am also in the storm of writers block. Then that adds to my feeling of incapability. Which of course, without HIM I am capable of little to nothing of any good anyways.
All this to say simply…thank you…this has stirred a lot in me that is all long overdue.
Tam-
I loved your site and will email you about it later on.
BUT….I am so delighted you popped over to visit my little space here.
Don’t give up on your book–keep working at it!
The Lord placed the vision and mission in your heart for HIS reason and in His perfect timing it will all work out!
He is never late….but always RIGHT ON TIME!
Hang tight girlfriend….I just got a “reject letter” for one of my book proposals–and that was a BUMMER–but the UPSIDE is the letter deatiled my work so I am very HAPPY the aquisitions editor READ it!! THAT IS A GOOD THING.
Rejection moves me another step closer to the BIG “YES!”
My book may not be for his particular company but I will not give UP and keep striving forward.
I stand in agreement with you–I can do very little on my own but with HIM…all things are possible!!
Matthew 19:26 (NIV)
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
I have faith to never give up and TRUST and KNOW that the Lord wastes nothing!!
Keep writing!! Pray fervently!
In His Peace & Grace,
Lisa
